Auto-Boot with Power On Not Working

My V02 RubikPi 3 doesn’t auto-boot when I connect power, I have to press the pwr button. I think it’s supposed to auto-boot, is that right? Is there anything I need to do to activate that feature?

Turns out this problem was fixed by re-flashing the board. See this thread: Ubuntu Installation

Thank you for your response.

Actually, it turns out the auto-boot issue is more complicated. I have two power supplies for the RubikPi 3: an official RPi 5 power supply; and an Anker 65W power adapter. Auto-boot with power on works with the Anker supply, and does not work with the RPi 5. It looks like both chargers supply enough power for the RubikPi, but only the Anker supply triggers auto-boot. Any idea why this might be the case?

Auto-boot does not work when using the RPi 5 power supply. Can the board be powered on manually?

Yes. The board powers on with a pwr button press. It just doesn’t auto-boot.

Sorry. Another update on this. I was wrong about the two power supplies.

Starting from a board that’s been unpowered for more than ~30 seconds, neither of my power supplies auto-boots when switched on.

If I power down the board with sudo poweroff then switch the power supply off, then back on within 30 seconds, the board auto-boots. Same if the board was just powered, but not running, and the power is switched off then back on within 30 seconds.

So, the only reliable way to auto-boot the board for me is to:

1: power on the board, wait for power light to go on
2: power off the board, wait for power light to go off
3: power the board on again in <30 seconds for auto-boot

Seems to work the same for power supplies. The power light takes longer to go off and on with the RPi 5 power supply.

Please replace the following images in the image package, flash them to the board, and then proceed with testing.

@kinkin Thanks for your reply! This sounds promising, but I’m not exactly what to do here. Do you have any more information about the specific procedure to follow by any chance?

You may download the latest Ubuntu image via the link below,
https://ubuntu.com/download/qualcomm-iot#rubikpi3
replace the relevant image files with those provided in the GitHub link,

and then flash the image to the development board for testing.
Please refer to the following link for flashing instructions.

@kinkin Thanks for your reply and help! Resolving the auto-boot issue isn’t crucial for me right now and I’m being pulled in other directions, so I might have to wait until the next official release for a fix.

Okay, this modification will also be integrated into the next release.
