Inquiry Regarding USB-C Port Configuration Using 2-Lane Alt DP

Hello,

I would like to inquire about the USB-C port configuration and the use of DisplayPort Alternate Mode (Alt DP).

The configuration we are considering is as follows:

  • The USB-C3 port will be used as a USB-C port with Alt DP, supporting both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 simultaneously.
  • In this configuration, the USB-C1 (DP) port will use only 2 DP lanes.
→ We expect that even with a 2-lane configuration, support for up to 4K resolution will be possible.
  • Therefore, the USB-C1 port will be used for DP output only, while the USB-C3 port will be used exclusively for USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.
→ Only the 2-lane portion of Alt DP will be utilized.

Could you please confirm whether this port configuration and usage are technically feasible?
Additionally, we would appreciate it if you could advise on any limitations or considerations we should be aware of.

Thank you in advance for your review and feedback.

Best regards,
Wanho Sung

Theoretically, concurrent operation of DisplayPort and USB 3.0 is supported, but the hardware requires custom modifications.
You can run tests by first connecting a hub to the RUBIK Pi.
