Request for Comments: New Camera Support, Model Recommendations

Hello everyone,

I’d like to add support for a new camera on the RUBIK Pi 3 under Linux/Debian.
Ideally, it should work on the Raspberry Pi, so I don’t need to design a new circuit board.
Do you have any recommended models?

Also, for the already supported cameras, which ones need tuning/optimization? Could you also give some suggestions?

Currently, the RUBIK Pi Linux/Debian supports the following camera sensor:

  • IMX477 (already tuned)
  • IMX219 (already tuned)
  • IMX290
  • IMX708
  • OV5647

IMX519 with auto focus lens, IMX708

I’d like to see the IMX565.

Hello, could you please provide tunning process for camera OV5647.

The OV5647 is currently untuned; relevant work will be carried out in a subsequent release.

Hello, could you please provide driver xml for camera IMX415?

RUBIKPi currently does not support the IMX415. Are you looking to bring up the IMX415 on your own?
If so, please leave your email and we will contact you.

I am currently working on bringing up the IMX415 sensor on RUBIKPi.
Please help me any documents to write driver for it.

Thank you.

We have sent the email and will continue our communication through that channel.

Could you provide for me OV5647 driver xml?

The OV5647 has been integrated into the Linux build, and we will continue our communication via email.

Hello RPi3 Camera Experts,

Would it be possible to support a global shutter camera (IMX296 / IMX900 of Sony, AR0144 / AR0234 of Onsemi, or OV9282 / OV9287 of OmniVision, …), please ?

Certainly. The IMX296 is already on the development roadmap, and support for other camera models will be added gradually.
